Story

Yet another ASEF ClassNet Online Collaboration between St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School (India) and Spojena Skola (Slovakia) has initiated a bilateral exchange programme!

Under the supervision of Mr Pavol TRUBAC and me, both schools have worked on ASEF ClassNet Online Collaborations over the last couple of years. From 26 May to 3 June 2016, Ms Guninder KAUR, teacher in charge, and a 10-member student delegation comprising of Mr Ritik BHATIA, Mr Kuvam SEHGAL and Ms Bhavya GOEL of Class 11 and Ms Simran TUTEJA, Ms Arushi BHATIA, Ms Annie OSAN, Mr Shivam JUNEJA, Mr Amardeep SINGH, Mr Aman JINDAL and Mr Hemansh SHOKEEN of Class 12 visited Spojena Skola, Bratislava, Slovakia.

Mr Rahul AGGARWAL, School Director, led the delegation during the visit. Mr Alojz KOIŠ, Mayor of the City, gave us a warm reception. Ms Katarina KUBISOVA, Principal of Spojena Skola. Mr V. K. KELKAR, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Bratislava, also attended the formal reception. The delegation from St. Mark’s School witnessed Slovakian dance forms, and subsequently put up an energetic Bhangra dance. They also visited famous landmarks of the city such as the Bratislava Castle and the Devin Castle. Moreover, the Slovakian representatives brought their newfound Indian friends on a boat trip to Vienna for a day.

The students from St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School were very impressed by the horse riding and fishing classes at the Slovakian school. They were also happy to learn the Slovakian way of welcoming people with bread and salt. The exchange programme gave them an insight into the Slovakian family system, an understanding of the Slovakian lifestyle by living with host families and a great learning experience of the political and social system of Slovakia.

In the words of Mr K. KELKAR, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Bratislava Mr, an exchange programme of this nature benefits students and the whole of Slovakia and India alike as it enlightens the students significantly.
