|Title||Learning from ASEF ClassNet|
Ms Riya Nagpal & Ms Shivangi Stuti/Students in charge of ASEF ClassNet Online Collaborations at St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public School
|Venue||Meera Bagh, India|
We are Riya NAGPAL and Shivangi STUTI, students of Grade 11 of St. Mark’s Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh. Right when we were looking to broaden our horizon by learning new skills, we got a chance to be a part of the ASEF group in our school. Although we had been working for some collaborative projects, we were not very much involved in the ASEF Club. Much to our surprise, we were asked to manage all 25 Online Collaborations under it. We were nervous but we took the job assigned to us with zeal. We recruited 7-8 members per group and assigned leaders for each one who were to supervise the activities of their group members. This enhanced our leadership and management skills in all aspects. With regular updates from leaders of groups, we used to plan certain tasks to be completed in a specified time period.
We, then, started working on our magazine and book – “iMagz-Making Myself Heard” and “From Asia to Europe – A Priceless Treasury” respectively. Unfamiliar with the way of working upon them, once again, we were very apprehensive. But it was an amazing experience for we learnt a lot of new things in the process. From making new global friends through collaboration to learning advance technological skills, the projects offered us a great way for self-improvement. And when we held the book and the magazine, the fruits of our labour in our hands, we were ecstatic. Our joy knew no bounds. We were told that the book was released at the 12th ASEF Classroom Network Conference in Sofia, Bulgaria, which made us so proud.
We realised our own potential and felt a sense of gratitude for being part of the ASEF club in our school. We would like to mention that we also got a chance to visit Hungary to meet our ASEF friends from Budapest and Nagykanizsa, thus, our virtual meetings turned into a real one. This year, yet again, thanks to the ASEF ClassNet platform, we look forward to visiting Greece as we are working in the Online Collaboration “Cultural Loom”. ASEF has not only offered us the opportunities to become global citizens but also helped us in enhancing our skills in all aspects. Today, we have become more independent and confident and our respect and appreciation for different cultures, people, traditions, etc. around the world has, inevitably, grown.
